“The former World No.2 [...] saved some of her best tennis for last in Singapore. Radwanska reached the semifinals of Wimbledon, but reached even higher heights in Asia, winning the Toray Pan Pacific Open and Tianjin Open titles to qualify for the WTA Finals,” WTA wrote in a statement.

“A slow starter in Singapore, she overcame dropping her opening two round robin matches to upset top-seeded Halep to qualify for the semifinals, where she took out Muguruza and Kvitova to capture her biggest-ever title and finish the year ranked inside the Top 5 for the third time in her career.”

Other players in the shortlist are Serena Williams, Garbiñe Muguruza, and Flavia Pennetta.

Williams won the award the last three years in a row.

Votes can be cast here until Sunday, 6 December. The results will be announced on 8 December. (rg/di)
