The last time the Polish player held the No. 3 spot was in May 2014.

Radwańska, who has put in some strong performances recently, has been resting since the end of January in order to heal a shin injury.

She pulled out of the WTA tournament in Dubai starting 15 February but is progressing well and is to play in next week’s Qatar Total Open, onet.pl reported.

Radwańska beat America’s Alison Riske in straight sets to win the final of the WTA Shenzhen Open in south eastern China in January.

But she was beaten by America’s Serena Williams in the semi-finals of the Australian Open last month.

Radwańska’s highest ranking so far has been No. 2, following the Wimbledon final in 2012. (pk)
