The bout in Sosnowiec, southern Poland, on Friday evening, was the Polish boxer’s first fight after an almost year-and-a-half break.

Włodarczyk, 34, floored his opponent with a straight left. Brudov got back up, but the referee saw he was swaying on his feet and decided to end the fight.

The Sosnowiec bout was a test for the Pole ahead of a fight in Las Vegas, probably in May, with Kazakhstan’s Beibut Shumenov for the title of WBA interim world champion. (pk)
