Ice hockey: Poland beat Slovenia

Poland have beaten Slovenia 4:1 at the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A in the southern Polish city of Katowice.

The win on Tuesday was the Polish hosts’ first in the tournament. Earlier, Poland lost 1:3 to Italy and 1:4 to South Korea.
Slovenia, meanwhile, had earlier beaten Japan 7:1 and Italy 3:1, and were regarded as favourites. (pk)
