Poland to win 17 medals in Rio?

Polish athletes could bring home five gold medals at the upcoming Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro this summer, a statistics aggregator has predicted.

According to Gracenote, which collected metadata related to the international athletics industry, Poland is likely to win five gold medals, three silver and nine bronze – a total of 17 medals.

Among the Polish athletes who are likely to win gold medals, according to Gracenote, are discus thrower Piotr Malachowski, and hammer throwers Paweł Fajdek and Anita Włodarczyk.

The top country in terms of expected medals is the US, with a predicted 102 medals.

The 2016 Olympics in Rio will kick off on 5 August. (rg)
