The transfer is the highest ever paid for a Polish player, breaking the record of goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek who was signed to Liverpool for EUR 7.4 million in 2001.

Poland’s star player Robert Lewandowski transferred to Borussia Dortmund for EUR 4.7 million in 2010. His transfer to Bayern Munich in 2014 was free. He is now worth most among the Polish players, at around EUR 75 million.

Krychowiak’s current market value is EUR 30 million, according to the Transfermarkt website.

It had earlier been reported that English club Manchester United was interested in signing up Krychowiak, before PSG beat them to the deal.
