If the Polish team qualifies for the World Cup, PZPN said in a statement, the contract will be automatically extended for the duration of the championships.
Nawałka has been the manager of the Polish national team since October 2013.
Under his leadership, the Polish squad qualified for the 2016 UEFA European championships, where it lost on penalties against Portugal in the quarter-finals.
The Polish team has played 30 matches in total with Nawałka as manager – they won 15, drew 11 and lost four. (mol/pk)
