The 40-year-old is to take up his post on 1 May. The Polish Volleyball Federation recently decided not to renew the Frenchman’s contract.

Under Antiga, the Polish team won 68 out of the 100 matches it played since 2014. But it failed to win a medal at the Rio Olympics.

Jacek Kasprzyk, the head of the Polish Volleyball Federation, has said that although Poland won the world championship in 2014 under Antiga, the following years were not so good for the team.

Antiga said he was “very excited to start my new adventure with the Canadian team."

“I’m very happy to start this collaboration with Canada. The team has improved greatly,” he was cited as saying by the Volleyball Canada website. (pk)
