De Giorgi will take over the Polish national squad in May and will lead it in the 2017 Men's European Volleyball Championship, which will be held in Poland in August and September next year.
Meanwhile, the former coach of the Polish team, Stephane Antiga, has been chosen as the new head of the Canadian squad.
The 40-year-old Frenchman is to take up his post on 1 May, after the Polish Volleyball Federation decided not to renew his contract.
