Poland had lost the chance of advancing to the final 16 after a string of defeats earlier in the tournament in France.
The Poles, coached by Talant Duyshebaev, were beaten 20:22 by Norway, 24:28 by Brazil and 20:24 by Russia, while defeating Japan 26:25.
Poland took fifth spot in Group A and on Saturday play Tunisia, the fifth-placed team in Group B, in the first play-off for places 17 to 20.
Duyshebaev in November renewed his contract as Poland coach until the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Russian-Spanish trainer was appointed in March and led Poland to fourth place in last year’s Rio Olympics.
