Canada’s national volleyball team, managed by Poland’s former coach, will face off against the Polish squad in the 2017 Wagner Memorial tournament in Kraków in August.

Under Frenchman Stephane Antiga, the Polish team won 68 out of the 100 matches it played since 2014. A decision not to renew his contract to coach Poland was made after the Polish squad failed to win a medal at the Rio Olympics last year.

Russia and France will also participate in the Kraków tournament, which will be held from 11-13 August.

The tournament is named after Hubert Jerzy Wagner, who coached the Polish team to a world championship victory in 1974 and Olympic gold medal in 1976. (vb/pk)
