Pole second in third stage of Basque Country tour

Polish cyclist Michał Kwiatkowski has come second in stage three of the six-stage Tour of Basque Country climbing to fourth place in the tour’s general classification.

Spaniard David De La Cruz (Team Quick-Step Floors) won the 160.5 km hilly leg in Spain’s northeast, from Vitoria-Gasteiz to San Sabastian, with a time of 03h 54' 25".
Kwiatkowski, who is racing for Britain's Team SKY, came in three seconds behind the winner, along with 39 other cyclists.
Cruz’s win has placed him in the top spot of the general classification, ahead of Australia’s Jay McCarthy and Spain’s Alejandro Valverde. (vb)
