Poland were crushed 0:4 by Denmark on Friday evening in a qualifier that knocked the wind out of the national squad’s sails in its 2018 World Cup campaign.

The Poles, mistake-prone, lacking energy and often appearing helpless, were outmanoeuvred by a nimble Danish side keen for a chance to play in next year’s World Cup in Russia.

Denmark’s goals came from Thomas Delaney in the 15th minute, Andreas Cornelius just before half time, Nicolai Joergensen in the 59th minute and Christian Eriksen ten minutes before the final whistle.

Despite their trouncing in Copenhagen, Poland are still top of their group E in the qualifiers thanks to their previous wins.

In their next World Cup qualifying match, Poland face off against Kazakhstan in Warsaw on Monday.
