The 40-year-old Pole, a former world champion, beat “Big Fred” Kassi, two years his junior, on points in the ten-round fight, triumphing 97:93, 96:94, 96:94.

Adamek, whose moniker is “Góral,” won the "Night of the Warriors" bout in Częstochowa, southern Poland, in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Adam Balski beat America’s Demetrius Banks 80:70, 80:71, 69:62 in Częstochowa in an eight-round junior heavyweight fight.

If lacking in visual pyrotechnics, Balski’s win demonstrated his courage -- he was fighting with a damaged jaw.
