The drop comes after two friendlies in November. The Poles drew 0-0 with Uruguay in Warsaw and were beaten 0-1 by Mexico in the northern Polish city of Gdańsk.

Poland have already booked their place at next year’s World Cup in Russia.

The World Cup finals draw takes place on December 1. Poland are among the eight top-seeded nations.

The top three teams in the latest FIFA ranking remain unchanged: Germany is No. 1, followed by Brazil and Portugal.

Earlier this year Poland were No. 5 in the FIFA table -- the best result for the Polish team since the world football governing body’s ranking was launched in 1992.

Poland's lowest place was 78th, in 2013.

The ranking factors in the final score of games played over the past four years, and whether the match was friendly or competitive, the rank of the opponent and other variables.
