Groups drawn for 2018 Volleyball World Championships

Poland will face Bulgaria, Iran, Cuba, Finland and Puerto Rico in round one of the volleyball world championships which Bulgaria and Italy will co-host in 2018.

The draw for the tournament was held in Florence, Italy, on Thursday.

Four groups of six teams will compete in different venues in the first round, with Poland, the defending champion, set to face its group-round rivals in Varna, Bulgaria.

Italy, Argentina, Japan, Belgium, Slovenia and the Dominican Republic will play in Rome and Florence in Italy; Brazil, Canada, France, Egypt, China and the Netherlands will play in Ruse, Bulgaria; and the US, Russia, Serbia, Australia, Tunisia and Cameroon will play in Bari, Italy.

The volleyball world championships will be held from 10 to 30 September 2018. It will be the first time two countries will host the event. The finals will take place in Turin, Italy. (vb/pk)
