Polish former F1 driver Robert Kubica was never “100 percent ready” for racing but is capable of a comeback to the sport, according to an interview for British broadcaster BBC.

Kubica said he had confidence and “the belief I can do it,” according to the BBC.

After unsuccessful tests for Renault, Kubica has trialled for Williams, which is expected to put Kubica in a simulator before making a final decision to sign him up to partner with Canada’s Lance Stroll and replace outgoing Brazilian racer Felipe Massa, the BBC said.

Kubica competed for Renault in Formula 1 in 2010, scoring three podiums in his season with the French manufacturer, before an injury sustained in a rallying crash in 2011 forced him to put his F1 career on hold. (vb)
