Radwańska, seeded 26th, beat Czech Kristýna Plíšková on Tuesday 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Pole, ranked world no. 35 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), next takes on Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko.
Radwańska, a former world No. 2, has been struggling to return to form after an uninspiring season last year. She ended 2017 ranked outside the Top 20 for the first time in a decade.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Magda Linette has for the first time in her career made it through to the second round of the singles at the Australian Open after beating America’s Jennifer Brady 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Monday. Linette on Wednesday takes on Russia’s Daria Kasatkina.
Polish player Magdalena Fręch was beaten by Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro 5-7, 3-6 in the first round of the tournament on Monday.
The 20-year-old Pole was making her debut in a Grand Slam tournament.
