Pyeongchang Olympics: Pole last among finishers in Nordic combined

Poland’s Wojciech Marusarz was last among the finishers in the Nordic combined individual normal-hill event at the winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Wednesday.

He finished 6 minutes and 36.1 seconds behind the winner, Eric Frenzel of Germany, who defended his title from the 2014 Sochi Olympics after winning the cross-country skiing stage of the competition.

Paweł Słowiok was the best among the Poles, finishing 22nd, more than 2 minutes and 35 seconds behind Frenzel.

Two other Poles, Szczepan Kupczak and Adam Cieślar, were 39th and 42nd respectively among the 47 finishers.

Japan’s Akito Watabe took the silver, and Austria's Lukas Klapfer claimed the bronze.

Nordic combined is a sport that combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing.

Two more Nordic combined events are scheduled to be held at this year’s winter Olympics: a Nordic combined large-hill competition and a team event.

Poland has yet to win a medal at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
