Among team members are a number of players from the junior team which last year came sixth at the World Championships, including Natalia Murek, Aleksandra Gryka, Martyna Łukasik, Alicja Grabka and Maria Stenzel.

"We’ve been investing in these girls for a few seasons," Nawrocki said.

The coach also expressed disappointment that 28-year-old Joanna Wołosz would not play during the upcoming season, which starts next month.

The team is set to play two games against the Czechs in Węgierska Górka, southern Poland, on May 10 and 11 before heading to the US on May 12 for the first League of Nations tournament, which replaces the Grand Prix.

Poland will face off against the US, Turkey and Italy in week one of the tournament. (vb/pk)
