The referee suspended last week’s match between Legia Warsaw and Arka Gdynia for several minutes when thick smoke obscured visibility at the National Stadium in Warsaw.

In another incident in the second half, a flare landed on the pitch and players had to wait until it was removed.

The Polish Football Association said the incidents put lives at risk. It added that around 100 seats were damaged in the stadium.

Legia Warsaw beat Arka Gdynia 2-1 in the game on Wednesday. It was Legia’s 19th Polish Cup victory.
