Glik will probably need surgery for his shoulder, and even if this is avoided, in the best-case scenario he will need to stay off the pitch for at least six weeks, doctor Jacek Jaroszewski said.

Glik is set to be examined by doctors in France before a final diagnosis and a final decision on whether he will play in the World Cup is made.

The World Cup kicks off on June 14 and runs until July 15. Poland takes on Senegal, Colombia and Japan in the group stage of the tournament. (vb/pk)
