Each zone will accommodate up to 1,000 fans and cost up to PLN 300,000 [EUR 70,000, USD 83,000] to set up, according to Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

Similar zones will be created in other Polish cities, including Gdańsk in the north and Poznań in the west, IAR said.

In addition, a National Fan Zone will be set up at Warsaw’s National Stadium for those wanting to root for Poland during their first match in Russia, IAR reported.

The World Cup kicks off on Thursday with a match between the host nation and Saudi Arabia.

Poland will take on Senegal, Colombia and Japan in the group stage of the tournament.

The Poles are due to open their campaign against Senegal in Moscow on June 19.

Manager Adam Nawałka's men will next take on Colombia in Kazan on June 24 and play Japan in Volgograd four days later.

Polish football fans heading for the World Cup in Russia have been warned of a terror threat in that country.

No Polish politician or diplomat will attend the opening ceremony of the football World Cup in Russia, Poland's ambassador in Moscow was quoted as saying on Friday.
