Rosolska and Spears were taking on Czech pair Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova in a match in London that marked the Polish player’s first-ever Grand Slam semifinal.

In a victory that surprised many, the Polish-American pair beat top-seeded Timea Babos of Hungary and Kristina Mladenovic of France 7-6, 6-3 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Rosolska has a WTA doubles ranking of 42. Her best singles ranking was when the Women's Tennis Association listed her at world No. 636 in June 2003.

Meanwhile, Polish rising star Iga Świątek, aged 17, was on Friday up against China’s Xinyu Wang in the women’s singles semifinals of the junior tournament at Wimbledon.

Poland’s Agnieszka Radwańska has crashed out of Wimbledon in the second round of the women's singles.
