Polish swimmers in attempt to cross Baltic Sea

A relay team of six swimmers on Tuesday morning started an attempt to set a world first by crossing the Baltic Sea from the Polish coastal town of Kołobrzeg to Kåseberga in Sweden.

The three men and three women expect the 170-kilometre swim to take at least three days and three nights, with each plunging into the cold waters of the Baltic for an hour before taking a five-hour break.

The swimmers are triathlon enthusiasts from a Warsaw sports club who spent a year preparing for the challenge.
