Four medals for Poland at European rowing championships in Glasgow

Poland has won four medals, one gold, one silver and two bronze, at the European rowing championships, which ended in Glasgow on Sunday.

Polish rowers claimed gold in the women's quadruple sculls and took silver in the lightweight women's double sculls. They added bronzes in the women's four and the men's quadruple sculls to place seventh in the event’s overall medals table.

The Polish women's quadruple scull team of Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska, Marta Wieliczko, Maria Springwald and Katarzyna Zillmann earned the top podium spot after completing the 2 km race in 6:20.92, almost 3 seconds ahead of second-placed Ukraine and more than 4 seconds ahead of the third-placed Netherlands.

The 2018 European Rowing Championships were held at the Strathclyde Country Park regatta course just outside of Glasgow from August 2 to 5.

Romania topped the medals table with seven medals, three gold, two silver and two bronze.

The 2018 world rowing championships will take place in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv from September 9 to 16.
