The event at the National Stadium in the Polish capital on Saturday, September 1, will be held as Poland this year marks the centennial of regaining independence, the Polish Table Tennis Association (PZTS) has said.

The event, which includes six tournaments for children and teenagers classified into several age groups, aims to promote table tennis among young Poles, Dariusz Szumacher, head of the Polish Table Tennis Association, was quoted as saying in a press release.

There will also be a Ping-Pong Stars Tournament featuring leading Polish player Lucjan Błaszczyk, Belarus’ Vladimir Samsonov, Austria’s Werner Schlager and Sweden’s Jörgen Persson, according to the release.

Błaszczyk, a multiple Polish champion and winner of 12 European championship medals, will officially end his long career that day, the Polish Table Tennis Association said.
