Football: Poland manager names squad for Italy, Ireland matches

The Poland football manager has released a list of 27 players called up for upcoming matches against Italy and Ireland.

The line-up announced by Jerzy Brzęczek on Monday includes a number of fresh faces, in addition to 14 players who represented Poland during this year’s World Cup in Russia.

Poland will on September 7 take on Italy in their opening match in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League, a new competitive football format in Europe.

Poland will play a friendly against Ireland in the south-western Polish city of Wrocław on September 11.

Brzęczek took over as Poland manager in July after the national squad's early World Cup exit disappointed fans.

Here is the full Poland squad for the September matches against Italy and Ireland:

Goalkeepers: Łukasz Fabiański (West Ham United), Łukasz Skorupski (Bologna FC), Wojciech Szczęsny (Juventus).

Defenders: Jan Bednarek (Southampton), Bartosz Bereszyński (Sampdoria), Adam Dźwigała (Wisła Płock), Kamil Glik (AS Monaco), Marcin Kamiński (Fortuna Duesseldorf), Tomasz Kędziora (Dynamo Kyiv), Rafał Pietrzak (Wisła Kraków), Arkadiusz Reca (Atalanta Bergamo), Maciej Rybus (Lokomotiv Moscow).
