Tennis: Poland’s Linette into Japan Women's Open quarter-finals

Poland’s Magda Linette has made it through to the quarter-finals of the Japan Women's Open tennis tournament in Hiroshima.

Linette on Thursday beat Slovenia’s Tamara Zidanšek 6-3, 7-6 in the tournament’s round of 16.
The Pole now takes on China’s Wang Qiang, the No. 4 seed, for a place in the final four on Friday.
Linette on Tuesday beat Sweden’s Johanna Larsson 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of the women’s singles at the WTA tournament in Japan.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Magdalena Fręch was on Tuesday beaten 7-5, 6-3 in the first round of the Japan Women's Open by China’s Zhang Shuai, the No. 1 seed.
Linette and her countrywoman Agnieszka Radwańska both crashed out in the first round of the women's singles at the recent US Open.
