Poland, the defending champions, on Saturday defeated Finland 3-1 in their third straight victory at the championships, which are being jointly hosted by Bulgaria and Italy.

The Polish team earlier last week beat Cuba 3-1 and notched up a comfortable 3-0 win over Puerto Rico at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships.

The Poles, managed by Belgian coach Vital Heynen, were on Monday due to take on Iran in their next match at the event.

The Polish team will on Tuesday play Bulgaria in their last match of the first round of the championships.

The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships run until September 30, with the Final Six scheduled to be held in Turin, Italy.

The FIVB volleyball federation is the sport's international governing body.
