A three-time Olympian, Jaśkowiec competed in the 2010 Vancouver Games, and she also represented Poland at the Sochi Games in 2014 and in this past winter’s Pyeongchang Olympics in South Korea.

The 32-year-old celebrated her biggest success in 2015 when she won a bronze medal in the team sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden, together with Poland’s star cross-country skier Justyna Kowalczyk.

Jaśkowiec has told Poland’s PAP news agency she was forced to quit due to health problems including a persistent knee injury.

"It was a difficult decision, but I wasn’t able to tolerate high-volume training loads," Jaśkowiec said, adding that she was thinking of becoming a cross-country skiing coach instead.
