Haye's visit, at the invitation of the Polish National Foundation - an NGO largely funded by state-owned companies with an aim of promoting Poland abroad - coincided with Poland's 100th year of independence.
Haye's visit allowed him to learn about Stamm, who was a prominent boxing coach and is considered the father of Polish boxing, and Pietrzykowski, who fought at the Auschwitz concentration camp in exchange for bread which he shared with his fellow prisoners during WWII.
While in Poland's capital, the boxer visited Stamm's grave, the Warsaw Rising museum and the Legia sports club's boxing section.
Haye competed from 2002 until his retirement earlier this year, winning multiple world championship titles. (vb/di)
