Former Polish league winners Lech Poznan lost in a friendly with Panathinaikos Athens 1:0 yesterday.

The game is part of a pre-season training camp in Germany, during which they will face a number of high profile opponents.

After a relatively lacklustre, goalless first half, in which the Greeks looked most dangerous, Lech coach Jose Maro Bakero made as many as nine changes, fielding an almost entirely different side for the second half.

However, the changes made no radical impact on the game. The Athenians continued to take the upper hand, with Bryce Moon ultimately scoring in the 86th minute.

Although a decidedly unspectacular result, the game gave Lech the chance to test some up and coming talent, including former Poland U20 player Ben Starosta.

The next match in the grouping will be on 13 July, against Russian team Rubin Kazan. (nh/jb)
