Kowalczyk wins Poland's Sportsperson of the Year

This is the third time that Olympic champion Kowalczyk has won the award presented by Poland's public broadcaster TVP.

Kowalczyk also won the Tour de Ski women's cross country series of racses at the weekend, beating her arch-rival, the Norwegian Marit Bjoergen into second place.

In second place was volleyball player Bartek Kuraek; in third place was former Olympic and world champion ski jumper Adam Malysz who retired at the end of the season last year.

Poland's men's volleyball team was Team of the Year. (pg)
