While corporal punishment was banned under Polish law in 2010, support for smacking and other measures to discipline children remains high among parents.
As Alicja Baczynska reports, the new campaign centered on eradicating violence against children seeks to raise a sense of responsibility among society in dealing with the problem.
“It’s not just our right, but our moral duty to react to violent acts towards defenseless children,” argues the driving force behind the new “React, It’s Your Right” campaign, Children’s Rights Ombudsman Marek Michalak.
