PM Tusk has said the "unpopular" pension reform, signed by President Komorowski late last year, "will contribute to the safety and security of the pension system in Poland."

In one of his last decisions of last year President Bronislaw Komorowski signed into law a controversial pension reform approved by MPs earlier last month, sending it at the same time to the Constitutional Tribunal to examine some of its provisions.

As Danuta Isler reports, under the new law, private investment companies that are part of the country's pension system will be forced to hand over about half of their assets to the state in order to reduce public debt.
