Elzbieta Krajewska talks to Artur Szklener, director of the National Frederic Chopin Institute, 12 months ahead of the next edition of the prestigious international competition.
Established in 1927, this is one of the oldest music competitions in the world - and one of particular prestige. Every edition has music aficionados all agog - and not just the lovers of Chopin's music.
As culture minister Małgorzata Omilanowska has pointed out, the previous edition of the contest, held in 2010 and part of the celebrations of Chopin Year in Poland, brought in more visitors to Poland than the Euro football championships in 2012.
