Brought up in exile, Anders continues her father's patriotic tradition by meeting Polish war veterans and talking to schoolchildren about the Battle of Monte Cassino, in which the general commanded the Second Polish Corps.

''My father never lost hope that Poland would be free,'' she told correspondent Michał Kubicki.
