“Our plan will become an engine of growth for the region and for the mining industry,” Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said on Tuesday.

Opposition politicians have repeatedly accused the government of ruining the mining industry and now argue that the plan was announced too late.

Will the plan indeed be “an engine of growth” for Poland’s industrial heartland?

Piotr Myszor, journalist from the New Industry (Nowy Przemysł) monthly and the Virtual New Industry website, told Agnieszka Łaszczuk he hopes that “the mining industry in Poland has a future, because there are some western companies that want to open new mines in Poland,” but the plan itself needs more details.
