As Michal Owczarek reports, the National Treasure List will be drawn up after a new law passed recently by the Sejm, the lower house of Parliament.

The idea is aimed to provide maximum protection for the most valuable museum items. Full financing of the conservation work will be made by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The new project will affect the national budget but the extra expense should not exceed PLN 1 million (about EUR 250,000).

"The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage will incur full costs of all sorts of conservation work for these items", says Piotr Żuchowski, deputy minister of Culture and National heritage and General Art Conservation Officer.
