  • Poland gets ready for refugees
As Germany and France pressure countries around the EU to take on asylum seekers in line with European Commission recommendations, Poland says it was one of the first countries to get ready to receive the 2,000 immigrants it was allocated.

But is this number too small in terms of the size of the country? Roberto Galea caught up with Rafał Kostrzyński of the Polish office of UNHCR to discuss this.

“A country where almost 40 million people live and a country that wants to play an important role within the European Union, should be able to accept quite a moderate number of refugees and asylum seekers. Let’s be honest, two thousand people isn't a large number,” Kostrzyński said.
