  • 76 years on since Poland was attacked by Nazi Germany.
The 76th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II was marked at dawn, Tuesday, on the Westerplatte peninsula in Gdańsk, northern Poland.

This comes at a time of heightened concerns about security as there seems to be no end in sight to the conflict in Ukraine. Agnieszka Łaszczuk reports.

While Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said that Poland “is a very important partner in the North Atlantic Treaty”, President Duda stressed the need for strengthening Poland’s presence in the Alliance.

Today, September 1st, it is possible to visit the construction site of the Museum of the Second World War, which is expected to open sometime in 2016 in Gdańsk.
