Q&A :: Rainbow unwoven

No other artistic installation has sparked such a nationwide debate nor impacted the social fabric to such an extent in years. Since it was erected at Warsaw’s Zbawiciela Square in 2013, Julita Wójcik’s Rainbow was torched at least six times for what it came to stand for – tolerance for sexual minorities.

“I think the Rainbow was a mirror [for our society]. That’s why I actually started to be a voice for the LGBT community," Julita Wójcik told Q&A host Alicja Baczyńska. "These groups told me the Rainbow did more than they tried to do for years in Poland.”
