  • Refugee situation reaching boiling point
The numbers of refugees at the European Union’s borders are now reaching record levels. In Budapest, hundreds of migrants are still refusing to go to a Hungarian refugee camp, demanding passage to Germany.

Meanwhile, there have been sharp disagreements among European leaders about how to tackle the crisis.

Poland’s Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said on Thursday that the country is ready to discuss its involvement, but will not accept automatic quotas.

“We have to distinguish between economic migrants, as we cannot afford to host them, and refugees, whose lives are in danger,” Deputy Foreign Minister Rafał Trzaskowski said before departing for Prague to attend a meeting of the Visegrad Group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia), Friday.

Agnieszka Łaszczuk reports.
