October 15th marked the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, allowing Poland to reflect on the organisation's significance.

An overwhelmingly large number of representatives at this week's event argued that Poland needs to leave a bigger footprint in the UN rather than just concentrating on the European Union.

“I think partially Poland’s youth were not interested in the UN because of our EU accession,” said Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“It was much easier and probably more attractive to find a job with the European Commission or other European institutions.”
