Polish border guards in Lesbos

Joint patrols of Frontex and the Greek Coast Guard Service on the Aegean Sea have started to produce the desired effects, EU and Greek officials have agreed.

Sławek Szefs reports that Poland has also contributed to the cause by dispatching a group of Border Guard officers to the island of Lesbos.

"We coordinate the actions from shore, so when a boat lands with a group of people, we are responsible for securing their belongings as well as the vessel's engines, to make sure they will not be used again," Border Guard Lt. Marcin Jurkowski told Polish Radio.

Lt. Jurkowski added that the overriding goal is to register all the arriving migrants.
