Taking part in the event held at the Belvedere presidential palace were politicians, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of EU institutions and international organisations.

Sławek Szefs reports that strong hope had been voiced for a compromise solution on the migration problem to be finally agreed at the EU summit in Brussels next week.

Opening the discussions Poland's National Security Bureau chief Paweł Soloch said that stress needs to be put on eliminating the causes leading to the present migration crisis.

He also appealed for restraint in taking an uncritical approach in labelling migrants.

“Perceiving migrants as potential terrorists is a stereotype that needs to be countered by politicians as well as all relevant institutions concerned with the matter,” Soloch argued.
