The first year of the "Work for Inmates" programme has clearly brought visible effects, with employment among detainees of state correction centres up by almost one third.

"Our goal is to find employment for a greater number of persons who would receive payment for the work done, so that our detainees, who have all kinds of obligations stemming from alimony or debt collector payments, be able to satisfy them,” says Agnieszka Głuszek, responsible for employment programs at the District Inspectorate of the Penitentiary Service in Warsaw.
