According to Preeti Saran, a India Ministry of External Affairs Secretary, India has close ties with Poland, with strong economic ties going back to 1990.

Indian investments in Poland amount to around USD 3 billion. India sees Poland as an emerging economic power, Preeti Saran told reporters ahead of the visit, will also see the inking of bilateral agreements.

While in Warsaw, Hamid Ansari will also address the Economic Forum organised by the Polish Ministry of Economic Development, where the main emphasis will be on how to increase bilateral trade, currently nearing USD 2 billion.

India’s Vice President will also be a guest at Warsaw University, where he will speak to faculty members on “Seven Decades of Democracy in India”.

"Among the strengths, in my opinion and in my experience, is the energy sector because both countries are sitting on coal. Another area where we can find common interest is the film industry, as Poland nowadays serves as the perfect location for Bollywood filmmakers," Poland's former ambassador to India Piotr Kłodkowski told Michał Owczarek.
