Launched in 1988 as a modest meeting held to discuss the co-existence of Polish and Jewish cultures, the festival rapidly became a highly significant event for Jews and non-Jews who come to the former Jewish district of Kraków to enjoy a feast of Jewish culture and tradition.

This year’s edition of the festival is dedicated to Jerusalem said Robert Gądek, deputy director of the festival: “This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem and the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in the aftermath of the June 1967 Six-Day War, this anniversary is special and we have good reason to celebrate it, though of course it was a theme that was always present with us, since how can one imagine Jewish Culture Festival without Jerusalem.”
